To my sister

Dear Jazlyn,
I tell you everything but I never really open up, I guess that can be a problem if at any moment something bad happens to either of us. There are many things about you that I like. For example, the way you cook, dress, and treat me when I seem to be sad. You have came into my crib when I was a baby and read me stories, no wonder I enjoy literature now. You have held me and slept with me through bad nights. I love when we argue and can make up, however I hate when we argue. I learned quite a bit from you, whether it is what to do or what not to do. You make me want to follow my dreams. When something is thrown at you, a challenge or a stone in life, you might cry, but you always find a way to handle it. It comes in handy to have someone understand how I feel. It is crazy because out of the people I have to write about, (Mom, Dad, Brandie, Mama, Papa, and anyone else I love) I choose you because you are the one I relate to the most. Thank you for not giving up on me when I made mistakes, and thank you for having my back through the hatred I got from others. There are reasons I can thank you for that you might not have any idea they affected me. I will always want you happy, I know you will always do what your heart tells you even if it is wrong. I hope sometime after this is posted we open a restaurant, and I can watch you live out your dreams in honor of our grandmother. Someday I wish you would find love and I can have a niece or nephew. So far though, I am the most proud baby sister. If at any moment I become disappointed in you just know that that disappointment is because I want the best for you and you did not choose the best you deserved. I love you and I will always love you, a life without you would be like a life with a half of a heart: incomplete.

Baby sister,
Aliyah

Inspiration...

I believe that kind, self-sacrificing people in general are very inspirational. Reasons vary on my opinion for this. Since people are so busy and have so many of their own issues and still seem to find time to help others; it truly opens my eyes. Seeing these people and their loving actions move me to want to volunteer in many different types of work. In a movie titled "Honey" a young woman named Honey Daniels was a dance instructor for kids in a city that was filled with drugs, violence, and so on. This place was where the kids could escape these wrongs and stay safe. She had the opportunity to be a dance choreographer for these music videos but it took time away from her life and her contribution toward her community. Therefore, she quit. Although Honey could have been rich and pretty much famous for her moves; she ended that as soon as she realized what these people were trying to do to her. I love to dance and I want to create a organization where we raise money for different charities. I still want to be famous in some ways, however, helping people and putting smiles on their face is really worth the effort.

Where I Would Live

I can describe myself as a lover of the ocean, clear/ natural sand, and sunlight. Myrtle Beach is gorgeous, I love visiting my family over there. It has a beautiful scenery mostly every place I go. I feel as if it is a very bright, upbeat place where humans 20s- late 20s can really enjoy their "young adult" stage. I can honestly say that visiting the beach everyday will be a priority just because it brings me a sense of peace and relaxation. If I move there with whomever I have my future with, I think that it will be the best experience for me, and a huge privilege to spend it there with someone I love. They have adorable, roomy condos in which I would enjoy living in. Myrtle Beach is packed with family attractions (just in case I have little children with me), exciting theater shows and endless restaurants (it seems). One of the websites for Myrtle Beach states that they get over 14 million visitors a year! That is a crazy number. But if I like it so do a ton of other people. My family and myself have visited twice but I swear I am in love with it. The last time I went was July of 2012, while I was there I was actually in a all natural photo shoot and I have posted some with this post. Myrtle Beach is truly a place I would consider moving to after I graduate high school.

No Title

I get disappointed every day my friends, people that I don't even know even tend to bring me down. It has to be the worst feeling ever. What hurts the most, is when I fool myself. Sometimes I hurt myself because I try to fight for things I want, but I know that it is impossible to win. A movie I saw recently called The Last Samurai really inspired me. In the end of the movie the characters Katsumoto and Captain Algren were fighting against the enemy, they knew that they would be defeated- what mattered was that although they knew, they kept enduring the fight until they felt like they have done all they could. After this battle the enemy took off their hats and saluted Katsumoto, because although he was shot numerous times he asked for help to stand up stare at the flowers that represented his country and then stabbed himself to death. His last words were, "They are all... Perfect." After fighting against people who hated him, he then gained their respect because of the fight he endured and the strength he put up for his people. It is awe-inspiring to reflect on the self sacrifice of people from all nations. I hate no one from other countries, to me, there is no reason to. People around the world fight back because they are fighting for their people. But what if, I shall go to war, to fight for my people yet my sister or brother are apart of a war in a different place. It comes to the point where we shall fight, unaware that a family member of mine is fighting against me. So I fight, and I kill but I come across them and our eyes steal each others sight. Suddenly I have a problem killing for my people because I would never kill my sister nor my brother. Now, people matter only because it will hurt my heart if they died. Then I feel selfish. Everyone is different yet we all share similar emotions, and I have heard that opposites attract. So why do different people hate each other, and people that act the same seem to have a closer bond? These subjects confuse me...

What Others Would Do

This is a video I made of my family/friends stating what they would do in their lives.
What others would do.
I really have come to appreciate my life and others lives on a different level. I seen throughout this project that no matter how old one is everyone will always have a place in this world to help someone else out. It has been fun opening others minds' and listening to their desires.

The Bible

No matter whos it is, no matter how it is written, a bible is a bible and tries to get its' morals across. My favorite book is The Bible, the best inspiring stories come from it. I can relate to it, everyday, at any time, under any circumstance. The Bible is special to me, because it is what made my family my grandparents, my great grandparents, and majorly close friends- who they are today. Granted, we do not always follow its' council but that is only because we can not. We are imperfect, God knows this. I believe that it is the effort that counts. No one I have ever met was purely evil, they always had a reason. Whether it was the way they grew up to the way people mistreated them, they never acted unjustly and tried to give any other excuse. One scripture that has really opened my eyes and screamed out to me was James 1:22 which says "Become doers of the word, not only hearers." This means that we can listen all we want, but without applying the direction to our daily life, it will just go in one ear and out the other. My past was not based on following the scriptures, right now, I am trying. Although, my future is definitely relying on it and my faith to help me follow my dreams.

What is one thing I would change about the past? Why? Who will it affect?

If I could change any event that has happened recently, I would change my attitude. The way I have spoke to not only the girl I stare at in my mirror, but others. About my life and my future and about how I feel negatively on certain situations. For example, my low grades or my "to good to reach" dreams. Sometimes when I think too much, all I begin to focus on are my faults. Though I assume it does not bother me, I notice that I start to second guess my talents, love and my future. I have said "I am worthless" because of the failing grades I get in subjects like Physical Science and US History. Also, I do not eat healthy. This is not good because I do not get the nutrition my body needs to function correctly. Eating is not the only issue, I am unhealthy because of the amount of sleep I receive. I lack the ability to fall asleep at a specific time of night and wake up 8-10 hours later. I struggle with breakfast, some days I might have a Flintstones vitamin and a cup of orange juice (to last me through the morning.) My emotions tend to fly everywhere and my immune system will eventually shut down. This is my reason for wanting to change my attitude because having a negative attitude toward myself helps me with absolutely nothing. This mainly affects me, but also the ones who love and care for me. Now how can I complain about that? At least I realize I have people who will always be there for me.

5.30.12

Interest, connection
Support, inspiration
Love, Destination
Forever
Because we are young
Until we are old
Crushed by the world
Built by our God
Igniting the feeling
Reciting the promises
Trying to force forward
While everyone is pushing back on us
I see a crack...
Fix it! Quickly
Before we began to leak
Our hearts can not seperate
We're in it too deep
Does oxygen fill your lungs when I'm not in your presence?
I know I can't breathe
I can't even see
You are my senses, my steer, my king
Is it true your smile expands when I call out your name?
Can you feel the shock when we kiss?
When I'm wrapped in your arms
I melt
Like chocolate bliss
See it's me
I'm your woman
Imperfectly pure
By guarding your heart
I'll make perfectly sure
I'll be your angel
If you stay my cure
Yes, I will love you forever
The one I adore

Favorite Hobby

When I think of certain activities I enjoy, plenty of hobbies come to mind. Eating, laughing, cleaning, sleeping. Although those activities exist throughout my day, one component i can not go without exerting myself in, is dance. I dance everyday to any type of music, at any moment. Before, during and after school. On the weekends, nothing but dance. Now this "dance" I speak of is not wiggles of the arms or bounces of my feet. It is moves, choreography. I got into dance when I was extremely young. My family says I was creating steps in my mom's stomach. If I know how to do anything, it would be telling a story through my body. That is why my blog is entitles "Listen to my, VOICE" and my user name is VoiceOfTheBody. This is how I speak. How I express who I was, who I am, and what I will be. Ask anyone what I love to do,those who know me will say dance. On the other hand, those who think they know me will say "talk". Dance makes me feel free, I know it can never give up on me. I want dance to be my future and be apart of my person forever. I promise to represent it with my best. Spanish, Hip-Hop, Belly and Contemporary all scream my name.... and once I hear  their call, I speak for them. Dance, Passion, Sacrifice, Obsession.

Music

Since dancing is my life, I always find a beat that I love just so that I can focus on what I am trying to "say". Music is such an asset to my daily activities. Car rides, studying time, cooking dinner time, it always seems that I have my speakers on high and my Pandora playing for hours non stop. I can not really say I have a favorite type of music. I literally listen to everything. Dub step, country, R & B, Latin & more. Whatever is catchy, beautiful, upbeat, slow/romantic. Anything that my ears find attractive, I search it, I play it, I love it. One person I really enjoy listening to is Demi Lovato. She has songs that relate to me & I like listening to those mostly. Alicia Keys is a woman that really teaches me morals through her music. "Girl On Fire" is a song of hers that I love to sing! When singers/artists bring out my emotions in a song, is when I really feel connected to the world of music, & less alone. Songs that consists of lyrics relating to "We Are Young", "you only live once", "Me, Myself, & Time", "Unstoppable", "Titanium", "Fall" & more: grab my attention. There is no greater feeling than knowing people who are in a position where I want to be in the future, have been through similar troubles. Music is relaxing, music is relevant, music is real.

I Am Bigger

My feet planted to the ground
everything surrounding me seems bigger
the people who dive into my heart says the person I am can be as big as I want
truth or not, the statement hits me
pushing & pulling me closer to my dreams
Do I make a move for it?
Do I run after what I love?
Do I continue standing small letting everything gaze over me?
Here I go
Always starting something then backing out
But I promise not this time
The other moments I had reason, a purpose
Now I just realize them
I want it
Here I go
Freeing myself from the darkness I've only seen
Unlocking myself from the cave I've lived in
Planning escapes
Making changes
Believing in promises
Foretelling my future
Here I go
I am bigger

Childcare Provided For Working Parents!

Would the government enjoy the money they receive for providing childcare for working parent/guardians? I believe that they would. In my opinion the government should allow this in every state in the U.S.A for numerous reasons. Occasionally parents are unsure about leaving their newborns or toddlers with adults at their personal place of residence. Unless they leave them with a trustworthy family member. Usually parents want their kids somewhat educated before preschool/kindergarten as far as knowing their numbers, alphabet, shapes and sometimes even manners. If the parent's income can afford paying for a childcare program, there should be no issue with the government providing it. I feel parents need all the help they can get keeping their children safe and preparing them for school. Kids may also appreciate the association with other kids that can help learn how to tolerate them for their future years of elementary school. Also older kids that may have mental issues might need a place to go while their parents are attending work, that can help them feel like they aren't alone.

Three things I value In life...

Things you value would be things that mean a lot to you, right? How about the things I value? Something that matters to me, like people or things I enjoy. I have to say my number one value is dance and people who share the passion that  have for it. A reason why is because dance is my escape, the way I speak to people whom I am not comfortable opening up to. Also, any human who has the endurance to keep moving despite the troubles that may try to block them, that is a valuable human. What I do not value is material things, yes, they are nice, but I would rather use and love something worthwhile than something I put my whole heart into yet it may be gone at any second. People who give up is just another disappointment, I say "Value your life, believe in your love and cherish your laughs." As do many, I value my life. God, not only allows me to live, but gives me the freewill to live it my way. My parents as well as my elders have to be the best people in my  life, they may say things I do not want to hear at times but I appreciate their examples. They show me how to see life through everyone else eyes and this is how I learn.

A trip to remember...

This summer had to be my most laziest, though it was relaxing, I felt like I did nothing at all. Except for one thing, something that really gave me a different perspective on life. A trip to Mohican Wilderness... Once I escaped the T.v. computer, and cell phone service world; I experienced life through nature. Campfires and canoe trips, brought me to the realization on how life is suppose to be. The natural beauty of the earth brought me satisfaction! Thinking I'd be scared of the big, colorful bugs; or the wet, brown mud; I was surprised with myself mostly because I barely thought about those things the whole time. Feeling so free as I'd run through the cold water, while the rays of the sun cut through the trees; striking me with it's warmth. Searching for flat rocks, I find one, holding tight to it with my index finger on the bottom and my thumb on top; I bend my arm back... Then snap! 1...2...3.. It sinks. The excitement it brings just to see the ripples in the water. There's nothing better. When it'd rain I would tilt my head back and cherish every drop while looking up. Embracing this moments, bringing them home with me, make me think of paradise. That compared to seeing what people tweet about, is actually a feeling worthwhile.

Aliyah Segarra

Part 1:
Aliyah.
Thought it was a unique name
For a girl who wants to find fame
Turns out that it doesn't matter
Cause if I wasn't me, my life would shatter
If my life is swirling
I wouldn't want to stop doing everything I do so quick
I'd take it slow
As if I'd stir hot coffee with a stick
See to me, I'm just a girl
To others, my life is "a whole new world"
The clothes I wear
Styles of my hair
Don't determine who I am
I like pancakes, bacon & ham
Like the beautiful Aaliyah who passed
Or that lovely Aliyah in freshmen class
Same name
Our own stories
Many people look at life as a game
I have no worries
"High Exalted One", my name means
From Arabic origin, I gleam
I guess my first name describes half of me
What's my last name got to be?

Part 2:
Segarra
To me each letter has it's own title
S- Self respect
For a young girl who's been through hell, what else would you expect
E- Eternal happiness
That's what I believe, If life was created why would God want us to leave?
G- Genuine love
Truth of the heart, put everyone else above
A- Artistic
Speaking out of my moves, not my lipstick
R- Ready
For anything that's thrown at me
Can't stop me
Remain steady
R- Running
Sometimes from problems, or maybe something else coming
A- Adventurous
What I hope to be in my future, visiting islands with citrus
Frantically I might seem everywhere at once
As for being normal it's just not my touch
I am a human in this time in era
So say hello to your carer miss Aliyah Segarra <3

#1 Rule: Respect

Rules: It's interesting how I start school & my first writing assignment is about rules. This is my somphmore year & honestly last year I had no rules. People never come to school with the same attitude so this year I walked in to LCCC with my mind changed from the previous year & set to making a great future for myself. 101% focused & I hope I can keep it this way. I choose respect. Why? Well respect, to me, is the rule that all rules are underneath. It's the closet while all the other rules are hanging inside. You have to respect the teacher & his rules in order to follow them properly with a willing attitude. Plus, it takes showing it in order to recieve it. In my case, I'm an energentic person. I adore speaking, writing, dancing. Doing things that give me the oppurtunity to express myself. Sometimes I hate when people tell me what to do, but when I think about it; they do that because they care about you in the sense with whatever they are nagging about. Like parents. That's why I want respect to be a part of my qualities this year & for the rest of my life. It's a beautiful quality. Why not try something new? It's the least I can do for an old time, rulebreaker.
